Career-best knocks of 178 and 60 not out by Rashmi Ranjan Parida and Sanjay Kumar Satpathy respectively helped Orissa gather five points, taking first-innings lead against Bihar in their four-day Ranji Trophy East Zone match, which ended in a draw on the last day at Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur today. Host Bihar settled with three points.
Opting to bat, host Bihar were all out for 287 with Robin Morris bagging four wickets for Orissa. In reply, Orissa compiled 424 to take a first-innings lead of 137 runs. Parida hit 18 boundaries in his 308-ball career-best knock, while Satpathy faced 103 balls and hit six boundaries his career-best unbeaten knock. Captain Raul also shone with the bat, contributing 63 (141b, 5x4).
In their second innings, Bihar were 329 for eight when the match ended in draw. Satpathy was most successful Orissa bowler in the second innings, capturing three wickets. Orissa created sort of record, bowling a total of 51 no balls in this match, including 29 in the first innings. Out of the 51, pacers Robin Morris and Ajay Barik contributed 23 and 16 respectively.
